Why We Do What We Do.
Mechanization Constrain for Smallholder Farmers
Despite chronic labour scarcity, less than 7% of cereal crops in Bangladesh planted or harvested mechanically. Manual planting and harvesting costs roughly twice as much as renting a machine and takes days instead of hours.
Machinery Service Providers Struggle
Service providers are constrained by a lack of finance, basic business skills as well as difficulty obtaining spare parts. They also stand a high risk of defaulting on machine loans and not many women are given the opportunity to own tractors.
Inefficient Delivery of Technologies and Services
There is substantial unmet demand for ag technologies as product delivery is not viable on a stand-alone basis for many segments. Service providers reach only “low hanging fruit” resulting in a non-inclusive market system
